Birding
Whether it's bird watching or bird photography, the variety of eco systems provides a amazing habitat for a vast number of species of birds. The blinds allow close-up action for photographers and a comfortable, concealed observation spot for the birdwatcher. The trails and paths across the property are great for chasing birds on foot. New species are constantly being spotted around the property and each season brings in new feathered visitors.
Star Gazing
The low light pollution in the valley makes the ranch an ideal spot for star gazing on dark moonless nights. During the summer months the milky way galaxy is in full view, besides the normal blanket of stars. In addition to stars, the full moon is bright enough for night hikes. Celestial events are a favorite for all, from comets to meteor showers. If you are lucky enough to encounter a summer thunderstorm the lightning displays can be impressive.
Trails
Over 3 miles of trails cover the property. The trails meander through different ecosystems and are ideal for bird watching or nature viewing. The trails will take you alongside the creeks and past the ponds too, where blinds are setup for bird and wildlife viewing.
Kids Activities
Kids should never be bored at the ranch. Whether they are exploring nature, playing by the ponds or studying animal tracks there is a lot to discover. Of course the catch-and-release fishing is always a favorite past time. There are also several locations to hunt for fossils. The ranch was once an ancient shallow sea and fossilized marine life specimens are common. At night, stories around the campfire or cooking smores, never gets old. If there weather is bad, there are games and books in the tents.
